IIT Madras is committed to making education accessible to all deserving students. Tuition fees for undergraduate programs are approximately ₹2,00,000 per annum for general category students, with significant subsidies for SC/ST and economically weaker sections.

The institute provides on-campus housing for all students. There are 18 hostels (11 for men, 7 for women) with single and shared rooms, dining facilities, recreational areas, and 24/7 security. Hostel fees range from ₹50,000 to ₹80,000 per annum including meals.
